DIY white washed terracotta pot

{whitewashed terra cotta pot}

Turns out white washing is easier than I thought it would be! Love when that happens!

I started off using a tutorial, which said to use sandpaper at the end, but that didn't work well for me. The sandpaper was making the finish more rugged than I wanted. Instead, I completely coated the pot and base with a light watered down coat. Didn't need much paint or water. A little goes a long way.

Once I completely covered the pot, I went back with an almost damp brush to smooth out the finish and  the brush strokes.

{supplies}

*terracotta pot {from wal-mart}
*sponge brush
*white paint
*cup of water
*plate {or whatever you choose for the paint}

I think using a sponge brush definitely made it easier because of how the brush absorbs the water. Also,  you don't have to mix the paint and water to one consistency. I used a little paint and would add a little water. I think it helped to create a more weathered look.

Now home to my new sweet basil plant. Can't get enough of that fresh smell!

And because I haven't said it before, I love spring!

Spring Paella

{vegan}

Spring paella with fresh seasonal veggies. I love cooking seasonally. It makes me happy. I really think I am a gardener at heart {but we'll see how that adventure goes in a few weeks}.

The recipe is from Food and Wine over  here. I did make a few modifications---omitted the artichokes and only used half the amount of rice called for.

This was my first time making paella, so I was a little nervous. Turned out to be easier than I thought and actually fun

I know I will make this recipe again. Oh, and the hubs approved!

Doggie Cupcakes {for Harv's 5th birthday}

{Doggie cupcakes}
I'm not going to lie, I giggled to myself while making these. It seemed so silly to make cupcakes for the dog but it was so worth it to see the boys faces and excitement! And, making them was quick and easy. I used this recipe because it seemed clean and healthy. I modified it by throwing in a hand full of shredded carrots. You know, for extra nutrition!

Yes, I am that person who makes cupcakes for the dog and has to make them healthy. Because I am secretly hoping our boys will live to be 100 years old!

Jackson really wanted to sneak a taste.

Happy happy 5th birthday to Harv!

As I continue to giggle, remembering that this did happen.

Chalkboard planters

{Chalkboard planters}
Another easy project! Sprayed a few terracotta pots with chalkboard paint {from wal-mart}, inserted plants {lavender from Lowe's on right and Bacopa from wal-mart on left}, and used chalk for the print!

It is that easy my friends!
